Sydney Teare is an artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana, who earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ball State University in May 2021. Working primarily with acrylic paint and multimedia collage, Teare's artistic process involves an interplay between mediums. She frequently uses collage as a preliminary exploration, using it as a “sketch” to inspire her later paintings.
Through her art, she delves into the complexities of identity, intimacy, and connection, with a particular focus on relationships between women and the lived experiences of lesbians. She employs ethereal imagery that blends elements of reality with fantasy while often featuring real women she knows, which adds a personal dimension to these themes.
